There are many fantastic dining experiences to be found in the neighborhood. Everything from fine dining to food carts, the cuisine on Mississippi is both diverse and exquisite. Plus, with many open air patios, courtyards, and picnic tables, mississippi has more year round outdoor seating than any other area in Portland. The street is home to several food trucks and cart pods brining a truly international flair to the fine cuisine.

Mississippi Avenue
While famous restaurants like Quaintrelle and Gravy are just a few blocks away, one of the city’s most popular food cart pods is across the street, and Moberi is located on the ground floor of the Mississippi Avenue Lofts building.
Nightlife & Music
Bars & Breweries
Portland was ground zero for the craft-brew revolution and Mississippi Avenue houses no less than 12 breweries and small batch distilleries serving specialty ales, ciders, and distilled spirits. These breweries in addition to the 25+ bars in the immediate area also maintain the same high standards in food quality and service that are found throughout the area. One of Portland best bavarian themed establishments, Prost!, is located directly across the street. Serving fine bavarian ales, sausages, kraut, and other fine German delicacies.
It’s just a happy place to go at the end of a long work day.
Mississippi Street Fair
Mississippi Avenue’s thriving music scene is anchored around the world famous Mississippi Studios (and its bar, aptly named: Bar Bar). Mississippi Studios is located in a former Baptist church and the space complete with surround balcony serves both as a stage venue as well as a live recording studio for both local artists as well as major acts that prefer the spaces intimate atmosphere and premium sound. Bar Bar has famous craft-cocktails, Grass-fed beef burgers, movies in the patio, and is dog friendly! The neighborhood is home to 10 small venues that host anything from DJ’s to Jazz, Rock & acoustic music.
Held once a year. The Mississippi Street Fair attracts tourists from all over the world. Featuring art, music, food and locally produced goods. You’ll Enjoy one of PDX’s biggest attractions in your new neighborhood.
Shopping
Shopping is at a premium as many of Portland’s independent retailers reflect the city’s well-known eclectic tastes and DIY-ethic. The 6 block radius around Mississippi Avenue Lofts features new and vintage clothing boutiques, independent book stores, music & instrument shops, and some of the city’s most unique specialty shops like: The Meadow, which won the James Beard Award, is dedicated entirely to a vast selection of artisanal salts, or Pistil nursery which caters to urban homesteaders and gardeners with an expert curation of indoor and outdoor plants, house-made living art pieces and homewares.
Besides clothing there are a number of other businesses up and down the street, fine jewlery, vintage synthesizers, taxidermy, comic shops, exotic lightbulbs, records, greeting cards & small gifts to name but a few.
Plus there is a lot more than just food, shopping and entertainment on Mississippi as well. Medical, veterinary, counselling services are sprinkled among the many businesses along the road as well as chiropractic, physical training, kettle bells, yoga and pilates.
The Rebuilding Center Is one of the neighborhood’s oldest and most recognizable businesses originating long before the influx of trendy eateries and boutiques. Over 20 years old, the nearly 40,000 square foot warehouse offers an extensive array of recycled and repurposed home materials and furnishings.
And this is just the surface, there is an immeasurably more to be discovered both on Mississippi and in the neighboring area including schools, parks, tiki lounges, rock climbing gyms, and so much more!
